A Single Girls’ Guide To A Fun Valentine’s Day Weekend In Kuala Lumpur

For those of us not in a relationship, Valentine’s Day can seem like the worst day of the year. But does it have to be? Rather than being reminded of how lonely we occasionally feel, why not take the most romantic day of the year to honour a relationship even more important than one with a significant other, aka the one with our best friend?(‘Cause you know, since Friendship Day is often overlooked and we never really celebrate it anyway).

Oh, You Sch-mancy

As an urbanite, you can’t seem to run away from your desire to have a fancy dinner and more often than not, that only ever happens when a guy who’s really interested in you asks you out, which is quite rare. On Vday, most restaurants are offering lavish menus loaded with elegant appetizers, savory main courses, and mouthwatering desserts. So this is the perfect reason to treat each other to a romantic dinner, minus the hidden agendas that guys usually seek at the end of your date.

Spa Date

On a classier note, head to a spa with your best friend and bask in all of the joys this relaxation station has to offer. After all that Valentine’s Day shopping haul, you’re probably too tired to think about anything else and trust us, you’ll be grateful for the amazing spa date. Plus, you’ll feel at most ease when you enter office the next day with your glowing, rejuvenated skin!

Get Crafty

What’s better than a girls’ night in with wine and crafts? Turn those bottles into works of art by choosing from one of these wine bottle crafts. Pretty sure you’ll find some awesome gems at the bazaar, but first, you’ll need to empty the bottles beforehand, of course.. so there’s that.

Spiked Shopping

If dining out is not your thing, grab your bestie and head to your favorite shopping area. Take it back to high school and grab a large fountain soda, spike it with airplane bottles of liquor, and get to shopping. Because we all know it’s easier to justify those special purchases when lightly buzzed. Not saying that you should do this on a regular basis, but hey, you deserve it.

Although the massive Year End Sale or Chinese New Year deals are so last month, there are other ways for you to get your thrift on for this special occasion: Valentine’s Day Markets in Kuala Lumpur.

2. Welcome To Heartbreak at The Bee

This is perhaps an anti-Valentine’s Day movement, a night to celebrate the darker, grimier side of love where heartache and loneliness lurk. Sometimes, surrounding ourselves with melancholy stuff might seem like a good idea, especially for those who doesn’t see the point of celebrating this special day of love. Experience a stellar night of RnB with special appearances by a list of local and regional acts, Sam Rui (SG), alextbh, Emir Hermono, Fauxe (SG), Naufal and Dan $hiv, providing the best songs to break up/make up for your Valentine.
