Are you surprised at who came out on top?
Australian singer Kylie Minogue has won a legal battle against reality star Kylie Jenner over the trademark of their shared first name.
In 2014, Jenner filed an application for the term “Kylie” to seek protection for the term pertaining to advertising services. She is apparently now planning an appeal to use the brand name “Kylie” for her blooming beauty (Kylie Cosmetics) and fashion lines.
Minogue, 48, filed a notice of opposition to Jenner’s application in February last year, claiming that the approval of Jenner’s application will dilute Minogue’s brand and confuse the audiences.

It was also highlighted that Minogue already owns trademark registrations for the term “Kylie” across several entertainment services and music recordings.
This includes the trademarks for “Lucky – the Kylie Minogue musical”, “Kylie Minogue Darling”, “Kylie Minogue” and Kylie.com.
The documents claimed Jenner’s “photographic exhibitionism” on social media and “controversial posts have drawn criticism from, e.g., the Disability Rights and African-American communities.”
Documents also referred to Jenner as a “secondary reality television personality”, appearing on Keeping Up with the Kardashians as a “supporting character”.
Ouch…
