Hardly anyone likes the way they look first thing in the morning. Do you often stare at yourself in the mirror while brushing your teeth and go, “Geez! I look like crap!” before rushing off to pile off a questionable amount of concealer? Because let’s face it, messy hair, dark circles, and a puffy face isn’t exactly Victoria’s Secret Angel material.
And even the “Angels” are careful about their beauty regime! So here are some easy tips for looking sexy from the moment you roll out of bed – even if it’s before sunrise:
1. Sleep right
Did you know that the average human head weighs about seven to eight pounds? Now imagine all the pressure you’ve been putting on your face every single night. Not only is it physically bad, it can also cause wrinkles on the “used spot”. Sleep right and try sleeping on your back.
2. Volumize in your dreams
We don’t always wake up with “good hair days” so set your hair before you sleep. Piling hair on the top of your head with a scrunchie will add major volume in the morning. But please use a loose, soft hair tie to avoid crimping and kinking.
3. Hair treatment with your eyes closed
Hair treatment is not reduced to just the bathroom alone. Ha! Bet you didn’t know that. Once a week, try sleeping with a deep conditioner or a night-time treatment in your hair. Most hair treatment products will help energize your hair follicles to stimulate the growth of thicker, fuller hair.
4. No sins before bed
We know that chocolates are the bane of our existence but, in order to wake up fresh, you need to get a good night’s sleep. And one of the best ways to ensure that you get exactly what you need is to avoid chocolates, red wine, and coffee. They’ve been scientifically shown to disturb your slumber more than any other food. Goodbye sins, goodbye light sleep.
5. For the love of you, sleep!
This is the oldest trick in the beauty book and you already know this. But here’s a twist – getting eight hours of sleep is not enough. You need to go to bed at the same time each night so set a proper bedtime and wake up at your fixed alarm time each morning. You’d be instantly fresher and happier.
And, might we add, “Good morning, gorgeous!“
