If you’ve been to Paree, or have seen your friends roam around the city of love on Instagram, pretty sure most of you must have heard of the iconic bakery shop, Ladurée, internationally known for its mouth-watering macarons. Never had the chance to immerse your taste buds with the delightful popular French-based baked goods? Don’t worry.
After 155 years of operation, the world’s most renowned bakeries and makers of the double-decker macaron is finally opening its doors in Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia! It’s no surprise really, seeing as us Malaysians can’t get rid of our sweet tooth cravings.
Parisian tea rooms’ history is intimately tied to the history of the Ladurée family and technically, the renowned bakery store is the one who invented macarons. It all began in 1862, when Louis Ernest Ladurée, a miller from the southwest of France, founded a bakery in Paris at 16 rue Royale.
In 1871, while Baron Haussmann was giving Paris a new face, a fire in the bakery opened the opportunity to transform it into a pastry shop. The decoration of the pastry shop was entrusted to Jules Cheret, a famous turn-of-the-century painter and poster artist.
Although at one time, macaron hit the world like a viral trend , Ladurée’s version remained at the top until today, as this dainty sweet treat has been described as just sweet enough with crunchy and light outer shells, complemented by a silky, flavourful filling that melts in your mouth.
The infamous bakery shop have offered its service to many VIPs, including Gossip Girl resident, Blair Waldorf and for Prince of Monaco’s wedding as well.
Ladurée Malaysia is located at Couture Zone, Level 3, Pavilion Kuala Lumpur. The official store opening date is yet to be disclosed, stay tuned to find out!
