If you’re a big fan of front photography (or selfie, for short), you’ll fall head over heels with Oppo’s new addition, the R9s. The latest smartphone from Oppo blends performance and usability in a lightweight and slim package, in which the device is highly refined and comes with a number of touches that make it surprisingly enjoyable to use.
Like previous models from Oppo, there is a lot of similarity here, which includes an all-metal unibody chassis, well-rounded sides, the chamfered edge where the rounded 2.5D Gorilla Glass meets the metal, and even the location of its speaker grill and buttons. Similarities aside, the Android-powered device is thinner at 6.58mm and weights not more than 147grams, despite the large 5.5-inch AMOLED screen. Yes, the device is super light!
Trying to snap a quick photo without blurring should also be easier now, thanks to the new technology built into the R9s in which it holds a 16MP snapper that has a big aperture to let more light gleam into your night shots, as well as dual phase detection autofocus (PDAF) and Screen Flash technology to make every shot clear as your conscience. Meanwhile, the front camera is the real hero here, as it features a beautify option where you can adjust the intensity of the filter to achieve a more natural faux rosy complexion.
The R9s sports a Qualcomm octa-core processor, 4GB RAM and 64GB storage which is expandable to 256GB via microSD for your multitasking and media-hoarding needs. Running on Colour OS 3.0, the R9s is powered by a 3010mAh juicebox and Oppo’s legendary VOOC fast-charging tech, for seamlessly fast charging that are low-voltage, so your phone’s internals will never be taxed with excess heat.
The fresh look is coupled with stronger performance than ever, introducing a stylish and innovative take on the rear antenna lines used to ensure a strong signal. The thick white bands that traverse the back of most phones have been replaced with two sets of three ultra-fine lines at the top which is equipped to operate on six frequency ranges, dynamically choosing the best one for 4G and Wi-Fi signals.
R9s’ body is equipped with 98.9% of metal, with a screen-to-body ratio of 72.9 %, making its visual a subtle, refined and distinguished one, with superb signal reception to boot. The new design sees a distinctive similarity with Apple’s iPhone 7, but don’t worry, you can return the device if it suddenly comes without a headphone jack.
Pre-orders for the R9s starts from the 5th to 13th Jan 2017 for only RM1798, and officially hits stores from 14 January in both Gold and Rose Gold colours. Get yours at any Oppo Concept Store and Oppo authorised dealers and stand a chance to win mysterious gifts by tuning into Oppo Live.
