The 90 odd members of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) have weighed, and measured, and have finally decided on the to-be winners of the next Golden Globes.
While some nominations undoubtedly restored confidence in those that were previously overlooked, it’s evident that the coming 69th Annual Golden Globe Awards is going to be nothing but a showdown between some of Hollywood’s most famous, most glamorous faces.
(And the beautiful gowns. Who can forget the beautiful gowns?)
In the “Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama” category, Hollywood heartthrobs and superstars Leonardo DiCaprio (“J. Edgar”), Brad Pitt (“Moneyball), and Ryan Gosling (“Ides of March) will come head on with George Clooney (“The Descendants) and Michael Fassbender (“Shame).
Ryan Gosling will again brave the fight in the “Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture – Comedy Or Musical” category when he comes face to face with the boyishly cute Joseph Gordon-Levitt (“50/50”) and Owen Wilson (“Midnight in Paris”).
We know this isn’t supposed to be all about the looks but how is anyone going to pry the awards from funny man Owen Wilsons hands, really?
Of course, let’s not forget some of our favourite women of Hollywood.
Nominated for “Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture – Comedy Or Musical” are familiar faces such as the talented actress, producer, and director Jodie Foster (“Carnage”), the gorgeous Charlize Theron (“Young Adult) and the most recognized “Rose” of our time, Kate Winslet (“Carnage”).
We were also quite pleasantly surprised to find that some of the animated films we’ve previously featured (right here in Lipstiq!) are in line to bag an award for “Best Animated Feature Film”! And they are:
1. The Adventures Of Tintin
2. Arthur Christmas
3. Cars 2
4. Puss In Boots
5. Rango
(Psst. We’re secretly rooting for “The Adventures of Tintin”!)
It looks like the first quarter of 2012 is going to be a big bang of awards starting with the 69th Annual Golden Globe Awards, which will air live on the 15th of January 2012, followed by the 54th Annual Grammy Awards at only one month apart.
Movies and music? We can’t wait for the major awards hoopla and the red carpet galore!
