Oxford Urges Students To Refer To Each Other As ‘Ze’ Instead Of ‘He’ Or ‘She’

Confused no more!

For those who often feel rattled on what to address transgenders as they are without offending them, it looks like Oxford University has come up with a cool, gender-neutral solution. Rather than calling people ‘he, she or he she’ with uncertainty, the university urged its students to refer everyone as ‘ze‘ instead. That’s pronounced as ‘zee’ or ‘zie’.

The issue isn’t about being politically correct, but it’s about respecting people’s rights to define themselves as neither male nor female.

Oxford is well-known for its gender-neutral efforts. Deliberately using the wrong pronoun for a transgender person is already an offence under the university’s behaviour code. Last month, the institution is one of the first to introduce gender-neutral toilets.

The move also has received support from another world leading educational institution, Cambridge University. The welfare officer at its students’ union, Sophie Buck ,said it would help people who do not identify as male or female in university life.

Hmm, but what about those who still want to be be labelled?
