Nicholas Meyer, consulting producer of Star Trek, has let it slip that Ipoh born Michelle Yeoh has joined the cast of the upcoming CBS show Star Trek: Discovery.
The show’s consulting producer, while talking to Coming Soon during a discussion regarding the Blu-ray of his classic movie, Time After Time, was reported to have said that “I know Michelle Yeoh is in it,”. Meyer, however, did not elaborate further on her role in the new series, which will be set 10 years back from the events seen on the 1960s TV series.
Michelle Yeoh had also reposted Coming Soon‘s article on her Facebook page, confirming the news:
Yeoh, who has had quite the career, went from starring in Cantonese blockbusters to Hollywood productions such as Tomorrow Never Dies (1997), Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon (2000) and the most recently aired Netflix drama, Marco Polo.
Star Trek: Discovery is set to air in May 2017 on CBS’ All Access in the United States while Netflix will stream the show outside the US.
