Eager fans of British band Coldplay were waiting anxiously for the clock to strike 12 early this morning (November 21st) to get their hands on the much coveted tickets to the band’s A Head Full Of Dreams tour stop in Singapore this coming April 1st 2017, but many were left disappointed as tickets were sold out almost instantaneously.
The Citibank cardholder pre-sale began on Thursday (November 17th) – four days ahead of general public sale on November 21st – and was intended to run until Saturday, but 12,000 tickets with prices ranging from S$78 to S$298 were sold out within an hour. That’s insane, alright!
Here’s the official statement from the organiser:
COLDPLAY – A HEAD FULL OF DREAMS TOUR, 1 APRIL 2017, SINGAPORE NATIONAL STADIUM
Update as of 21 November 2016
The launch of public sale tickets for Coldplay’s concert in Singapore has seen another tremendous response and tickets available for this show are now SOLD OUT.
Live Nation Lushington are thankful to all fans for your interest and support, and sincerely apologise to all those who have not managed to secure tickets.
The organisers are engaging with the artiste production team and Singapore Licensing, and are confident that we can open up a little more inventory in the coming days to cope with the very significant demand.
We hope to announce any additional capacity we can offer for sale by this Wednesday or Thursday. This will be announced via Live Nation Lushington’s official Facebook, Twitter, website, and Sports Hub main ticketing site, as well as through media outlets.
We will also continue to curtail the secondary tickets being sold at inflated prices. We have since voided a number of tickets found on the resale market as this contravenes our term and conditions of sale. We would like to urge all fans to refrain from purchasing tickets through unauthorised resellers as these may have already been voided and holders will be denied access to venue.
It wasn’t just us; many others in the whole of Southeast Asia were also trying their luck at the tickets, but to no avail. Many are now keeping an eye out for a ticket re-sell, but oh man, people sure are thirsty for the money as prices are indeed cray..
A quick look on stubhub shows that the Coldplay concert tickets are going from RM1,800 for a seated ticket, to a whopping RM24,000 for a standing VIP pass. Geez!
How much is too much?! Let us know what you’re willing to fork out.
