The Sungai Buloh – Kajang (MRT SBK) MRT service operated under Rapid KL is set to cover the full distance of 51 kilometres across 31 stations between Sungai Buloh and Kajang.
Expected to start operations in December 2016, Phase 1 will transport commuters to 12 stations between Sungai Buloh and Semantan, whereas Phase 2 will cover the remaining 19 stations between Semantan and Kajang, and is scheduled to begin operations next July.
The government-approved MRT fare structure will begin from as low as RM1.10 (between Pasar Seni and Merdeka stations), with a maximum fare of RM6.40 for the cash fare structure.
On the other hand, a maximum fee of RM5.50 will be applied for the cashless fare structure. This fees are similar to LRT and monorail services, based on the calculation of cascading rates for every four to five kilometres travelled.
Rapid KL has also prepared over 120 MRT feeder buses which covers all routes linked to the 12 MRT stations, with a fare of RM1 per trip.
P/S: Children, senior citizens, students, and people with disabilities (OKU) who travel on the MRT and MRT feeder bus services are entitled for a 50% discount on the service fare.
The fare seem reasonable for public commuters, but we sure hope the ERP fare will not be implemented anytime soon.
