The year was 2013 when Taylor Swift and her security team accused former Denver radio DJ, David “Jackson” Mueller, for sexually assaulting her. Swift and her legal team had managed to keep details of the incident under wraps – until now.
Though the judge has decided on 21 October to keep evidence of a photo of the star being groped by the former DJ at a pre-concert meet-and-greet in 2013, Swift’s request to withhold other evidence in the case has been denied. Which means, the transcript of her 26 July deposition about the alleged incident is now publicly available.
In 2015, Mueller filed a lawsuit against Swift for slander claiming that it had costed him his job. He also denied from any wrongdoing and claims that his former boss, Eddie Haskell, assaulted Swift that day. Swift denied Haskell’s involvement in the incident. A month later, she filed a countersuit in which she asked for a jury trial.
In the deposition, Swift was asked to recount the details of the incident several times. Swift also spoke of her embarrassment and discomfort at the time.
According to the transcript released by Billboard, Swift and Mueller were posing for a photo when the supposed incident occurred.
“Right as the moment came for us to pose for the photo, he took his hand and put it up my dress and grabbed onto my ass cheek and no matter how much I scooted over it was still there,” Swift explained in the deposition, according to Billboard. “It was completely intentional, I’ve never been so sure of anything in my life.”
Details of the deposition also revealed how shock Swift was over the violation.
Though it may be difficult for Swift to talk about the incident, her words against the violation are important. The violation against one’s body and personal space is the kind of occurrence that so many women feel required to shrug off. But Swift’s deposition proves why we shouldn’t – no one has the right to touch someone without consent.
The filing of the deposition was in support of Swift’s attempt to win the case before it goes to trial.
