Together with Pink Unity–the focus group for female cancer survivors under the National Cancer Society of Malaysia (NCSM)–POSH! Nail Spa celebrated its 5th anniversary with a fund raising gala night, Fantastic 5, to benefit the cancer association.
Based on the concept of “By Survivors, For Survivors”, it all began with the story of a woman who wore red lipstick to her mastectomy surgery to symbolise strength and courage. The founder of POSH! Nail Spa, Sereen Eng, found it empowering for a cancer patient to do so, and believes that a good manicure can help to boost one’s confidence too.
With all the side effects and suffering cancer patients have to struggle with, Sereen believes that simple human touch such as giving them a manicure can help them get through their day with a smile on their faces.
The Fantastic 5 event, aimed to encourage positivity amongst cancer patients and survivors, kicked off with a bang. The Gala Night was a huge success as attendees had the opportunity to witness the first ever Nail Art Fashion Show in Malaysia.
Acknowledged by the Malaysian Book of Records, the show showcased stellar designs from 5 fashion designers–Melinda Looi, Orson Liyu, Leslie Variyan for Variante, Carven Ong and Celine Ooi for ELEUSIS–whereby audiences were mesmerised by the unique, first of its kind runway show.
In the effort to raise funds for Pink Unity, a ‘Manicure For Purpose’ booth and ‘Spice Up Your Nails’ Nail Art Printer was made available at Nu Sentral, as well as customised T-shirts designed by renowned Malaysian Fashion Designers, priced at RM30 each. The event lasted for three consecutive days, from the 12th to the 14th of October 2016.
