The Samsung Note 7 crisis worsens as the tech giant temporarily suspends production of its Galaxy Note 7 devices, one of its flagship smartphones.

This followed after cell phone carriers in the U.S. and Australia announced they would stop offering replacement Note 7s following concerns that the ‘safe’ devices were also at risk of overheating and explosions.

Samsung recalled over 2.5 million devices worldwide last month, blaming faulty batteries. Replacement phones were then distributed, with a guide to tell between the old and new devices, but some customers have been reporting the same dangerous issues with their new phones.

After an American user reported that his new Galaxy Note 7 device caught fire even though it wasn’t plugged in, a Southwest Airline flight got cancelled after smoke started billowing out of a Note 7 device before it departed.

The flurry of bad news and setbacks clearly hit Samsung’s stock, and this disaster doesn’t seem to be dissipating any time soon..
