Renowned author J.K Rowling is making magic happen once more with her new upcoming film, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, an adaptation from one of the companion books to J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series.
Featuring Eddie Redmayne as the main character Newton Scamander, he plays an eccentric wizard who has been travelling the world in research of magical creatures since 1918, culminating with the publication of his masterpiece in 1927.
The movie is set in 1926 – seventy years before Harry Potter’s bewitching era – whereby the British hunk goes to New York for an important meeting at the Magical Congress.
Newt’s briefcase contains dangerous creatures and it didn’t take long before the beasts are unleashed, sending Newt on an adventure to get them back and prevent a war between wizards and humans (muggles).
The line of co-stars include Katherine Waterston, Colin Farrell, Dan Fogel, Carmen Ejogo and Ezra Miller. Watch the newly released trailer here and tell us what you think:
Fun fact:
The original book was written by J. K. Rowling under the pseudonym Newt Scamander. It is meant to be a copy of the in-universe book, which Harry Potter himself owns. The premise is that the book has been released to the Muggle World to help raise money for necessary causes. It also features a foreword by Albus Dumbledore:
Straight from the library at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, a book of magical creatures that no Harry Potter fan should be without!
A copy of FANTASTIC BEASTS & WHERE TO FIND THEM resides in almost every wizarding household in the country. Now Muggles too have the chance to discover where the Quintaped lives, what the Puffskein eats, and why it is best not to leave milk out for a Knarl.
Proceeds from the sale of this book will go to Comic Relief, which means that the dollars and Galleons you exchange for it will do magic beyond the powers of any wizard. If you feel that this is insufficient reason to part with your money, I can only hope that passing wizards feel more charitable if they see you being attacked by a Manticore.
– Albus Dumbledore
Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them is to be released in Malaysian cinemas on November 17 2016.
