Many news articles regarding the change in zodiac signs have been circulating on the internet this week and people are losing it.. But, here’s a reason to calm down – NASA did not change your zodiac sign and they have absolutely no plans to do so.
A blog post written in January by NASA detailing the history of the zodiac and the 12 constellations charted 3,000 years ago resurfaced, and in the post, it is mentioned that there is a 13th constellation that isn’t recognised in modern times. It also discusses the fact that the Earth’s axis wobbles and shifts, and as a result, we lose a day here or there every couple centuries.
The 13th birth sign in question – Ophiuchus – has of course ensued panic as it has also caused the other signs to shift. Many people, like us, are adamant and inclined about the zodiac, so obviously it’s a huge deal if it’s changed!
As some have claimed, people born under the 13th birth sign Ophiuchus (November 29 – December 17) allegedly yearn for peace and harmony, are poetic and inventive, and have a thirst for knowledge. They also have secret enemies in close circles.
Having said that, NASA is not interested in changing your horoscope. Its spokesperson clarified: “We didn’t change any Zodiac signs, we just did the math.”
“The [blog] was about how astrology is not astronomy, how it was a relic of ancient history, and pointed out the science and math that did come from observations of the night sky.”
As Brown clarifies, “NASA studies astronomy, not astrology.”
