So yes, Apple has finally opened the curtains to the long-anticipated iPhone 7, and it’s breaking the internet today.
What we’re really interested to know is how much better is the iPhone 7 compared to its predecessors, and whether or not it’s worth being in our pockets. Here’s what we know about it so far:
-The design remains similar to the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6s, but the iPhone 7 is lighter by 5 grams.
-The most controversial update that is driving people insane is that the iPhone is devoid of a headphone jack. And it doesn’t come with the wireless earbuds known as Airpods either, you actually have to purchase them for $159 (RM 659). We know Apple is heading towards a wireless future, but how practical is it, really?
It’s not being well-received for sure..
-The box does come with an adapter so you can still connect to your phone and use your traditional earphones, but that means you cannot charge and use your earphones at the same time. Yeah, sorry about that.
-It is IP67 water and dust resistant, which means you can submerge the phone under water, but only from 15 cm to 1m in depth. And not for too long.
-The impressive, cutting-edge dual-lens 12MP cameras work amazing in low-light conditions, but they only come with the iPhone 7+. The iPhone 7 camera is, however, enhanced with better lens, image stabilisation, and optical zoom, so it’s still way better than what you get with the iPhone 6 series.
-The battery life is impressive, the iPhone 7 can last up to two hours more than the iPhone 6s. That is the longest battery life ever in an iPhone!
-With a A10 Fusion processor, the iPhone 7 is 40 % faster than the A9 processor inside of the iPhone 6S, which means no more lagging.
-The iPhone 7 comes in silver, gold, rose gold, black, and wait for it, jet black, a new glossy colour. The iPhone 7 starts at $649 (RM 2625), while the iPhone 7+ starts at $769 (RM 3117). A bit too much?
The phone will be available for pre-order starting September 9, but the iPhone 7 is not scheduled to arrive in Malaysia just yet. According to our friends from Lowyat.net, it is likely to be available by mid-October, so hang on to your phones first!
