I was gifted the teeny tiny Foreo Luna™ Play skin cleansing device about a month and a half ago, and although many reviews are already up online, this rundown of my thoughts about the little gadget may prove useful to some of you. Here goes..
By now you’ve probably read or heard about Foreo’s Luna™ device – an award-winning and innovative T-Sonic™ cleansing device that offers a personalised deep clean in just two minutes. Through T-Sonic vibrations, the device works to gently exfoliate dead skin cells, unclog pores, remove up to 99.5% dirt and oil, and enhance the absorption of skincare products.
With all the rave reviews online on the efficacy of the Luna™ device, we needed little to no convincing, but there was one apparent problem – Each device costs between RM600 to RM800, depending on the variety.
Now, that’s where the Luna™ Play comes into the picture. Significantly smaller than its full size counterparts, the Luna™ Play is just about the size of a cotton pad and it doesn’t come with a handle or detachable brush. It’s ergonomic, compact and perfect to carry around for travel.
The silicone bristles on the Luna™ Play are 35 times more hygienic than on nylon-type brush heads, and it’s easy to clean as the bristles don’t run that deep. With that said, the whole device, which claims to work just as well as the original versions, fits nicely in the palm of my hand. It doesn’t have extra buttons to adjust the intensity of the vibrations though.
To use, all I had to do was wet the brush slightly, squeeze some of my cleanser onto the bristles, press the power button and massage the different areas of my face in circular motions before washing the cleanser off. Upon my first use of the device with Clarins’ Gentle Foaming Cleanser, I already noticed a huge difference in how my skin looked and felt.
I may not have suffered from acne, but I’ve always had a love/hate relationship with my skin due to the enlarged pores on my face, especially around the nose, cheek and chin area. Immediately after using the Luna™ Play, my pores were more refined and my skin was much smoother, more radiant and soft.
After a month and a half of incorporating this device into my daily skincare routine, it has transformed my skin and even my makeup applies much better on. There’s only one flaw to this device – it isn’t rechargeable and its lifespan only extends to about 100 uses.
My Luna™ Play is now less powerful and I can tell that its life will soon come to an end. However, I now know that the Foreo Luna™ devices are worth the hype and I’ve even been thinking about biting the bullet on the Luna™ 2. Is the cost of the Luna™ Play justifiable albeit its flaws? Yes, if you’ve been considering on investing on any of the original Luna™ devices.
