That’s right, Malaysians, time gloat and be proud of our very own squash queen, Nicol David.
In the list of ’20 Greatest Athletes In The World Right Now’ by Telegraph, Nicol David has been mentioned in the same list as Cristiano Ronaldo, Serena Williams, LeBron James, Novak Djokovic and Michael Phelps. What an honourable mention!
According to the British daily, “Not many athletes can claim to have enjoyed the sort of dominance that Nicol David has had in the world of squash”.
Since August 2006, Nicol David was the world number one for a record-breaking 108 consecutive months, finally relinquishing the throne in July 2015 to Raneem El Weleily.
She has won the World Open title a record 8 times and the British Open title 5 times. And she has won our hearts a million times over. Thank you for putting Malaysia on the international sports arena!
