The father and creator of the iconic G-Shock watches, Mr. Kikuo Ibe, was in Kuala Lumpur recently to celebrate the 20th anniversary of one of Casio G-Shock Premium watches, the MR-G. With that a limited edition watch collection MRG-G1000HT was also unveiled.
With only 300 watches available globally, the MRG-G1000HT is designed in partnership with third-generation master artisan Bihou Asano, using the tsuiki technique; a traditional method that creates relief patterns through hammering. This method has also been used in creating parts of the Japanese railway, shinkansen (bullet train) and flying machines.
Also showcased were the MTG-G1000AR and the latest FROGMAN GWF-D1000 shock-resistant diver’s watch. Finished with rose-gold aged ion plating, the MTG-G1000AR is equipped with an Advanced Timekeeping System that receives GPS and Radio Wave Time-Calibration Signals.
On the other hand, the FROGMAN GWF-D1000 is equipped with triple sensors and is able to withstand the toughest of underwater missions with Atmospheric Pressure, Temperature, and Magnetic Sensors.
During the celebration at Cortina Watch, Fahrenheit 88, Mr. Kikuo Ibe endeared himself to guests with his welcome speech whereby he greeted everyone and spoke in Bahasa Malaysia. After the MRG-G1000HT was launched, Mr. Ibe himself demonstrated the durability and toughness of the watch by putting it through the MRG Toughness Hammer Test Machine.
Guests also took the opportunity to seek out the Father of G-Shock to get his autograph and have a photo taken with him. The evening ended with a lucky draw which saw two guests walking away with the Casio Free-Style Camera Outdoor Recording Gear -FR-100 which is worth RM2,149 each.
