To those of you who cannot live without Game of Thrones, you’d better make the most out of the next two seasons, because that’s all you’re getting.
HBO’s newly-appointed programming chief Casey Bloys made the announcement during a press tour at the Television Critics Association in Los Angeles, saying that the show runners have a very specific plan about the number of seasons they want to do. Bloys wants his show runners David Benioff and D.B Weiss to call the shots, and therefore they’re stopping at eight, and not ten seasons.
“It’s always better to win more Emmys…that’s not our main goal.” Bloys added.
The finale of season six wrapped up with an average of 25 million total viewers, ranking as HBO’s most watched series. Season 6 ended with Queen Daenerys with her trusted advisors, a colossal army, dragons, and thousands of ships, all heading to King’s Landing to take over the Iron Throne. Watch it here:
