At the panel for Sherlock at Comic-Con, attendees got a first look at Season 4 of the British mystery series. The trailer teases an intense, action-heavy fourth season, and the series will air in 2017.
Starring Benedict Cumberbatch, Amanda Abbington and more, the panel at Comic-Con revealed that Season 4 would be a dark and emotional roller coaster, with jokes.
Co-creator Mark Gatis also joked at the panel, “We can exclusively reveal that there won’t be a fifth season… but there will be a sixth.” What does that even mean?!
When prodded by fans at the panel, co-creators Gatis and Steven Moffat provided three names as big clues – Thatcher, Smith and Sherrinford.
Abbington added, “I love playing Mary; she’s sassy, she’s ruthless. All the characters in Sherlock are flawed, making them compelling and great for all the cast to play.”
