The nominees for the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards were just announced, and shockingly, Taylor Swift was not on the list. Beyoncé leads the list with 11 nominations for her Lemonade visuals, while Adele landed eight nods for “Hello” and “Send My Love (To Your New Lover).”

Swift led the pack of honourees at last year’s VMAs with 10 nominations for “Bad Blood.” Having said that, it’s possible that she isn’t eligible this year due to the amount of awards she took home in 2015 and the fact that her album was released in late 2014.

In the past year, the 26-year-old six-time VMA winner released three music videos from 1989 – “Wildest Dreams,” “Out of the Woods,” and “New Romantics.” Perhaps Kimye would be pleased that the insane “Famous” drama has really taken a toll on Swift’s career..

Her ex-boyfriend Calvin Harris did get a nomination for “This Is What You Came For,” featuring Rihanna, which she co-wrote though.

To unveil the nominations for Video of the Year, MTV unveiled a panoramic mural created by world-renowned visual artists BD White, John Paul Ogrodnick (JPO), Damien Mitchell, Marc Evan, Resa, BKFoxx, Queen Andrea, Hektad, Giz, Such and Poem One at the First Street Green Art Park in New York’s East Village.

The nominees for Best Song of Summer will be announced at a later date.

The 2016 MTV Video Music Awards airs live from NYC’s Madison Square Garden on August 28, at 9 p.m. (U.S ET) and on Monday, 29 August at 9am (MY). It will then air live on MTV LIVE HD on Tuesday, 30 August at 8.30pm (MY).
