Notorious rapper Namewee is back with yet another controversial music video, and in his latest, “Oh My God”, he mocks religion, despite insisting that the concept behind it is to promote religious harmony.
He’s aware that the video may most likely be banned in Malaysia, but is confident that Malaysians would “understand” what he is trying to convey.
Ill-famed Namewee, who has gained reputation since he released the “Negarakuku” video singing the Malaysian national anthem in an insulting manner, noted that his latest video is shot in a similar way.
Directed and produced by Namewee, he combines four religions travelling together in the video, which was shot in various places of worship in Penang. The video, which features Taiwanese band Nine-One-One, includes sounds of the azan, a church choir singing, Buddhist meditation gongs and Hindu temple bells.
He is also heard saying “Namo Amitabha,” “Hallelujah,” “Om Mani Padme Hum” and “Allah.”
