Fans have waited almost an eternity for pop princess Selena Gomez to grace us with her presence, but there is a chance that our dreams might be crushed.
No, not because Selena changed her mind, but because the PAS Youth have spoken out against having the “Same Old Love” singer perform in Malaysia. The PAS Islamic Propagation Bureau Chairman Hafez Sabri said that Selena’s sexy style is inappropriate for the auspicious month Syawal, when Muslim are celebrating Hari Raya.
“The government, and the relevant authorities, should be stricter and more careful in giving the green light for such concerts,” Hafez said in a statement. He also called for the Selangor Islamic Religious Council to come up with an official letter to ban her concert in Malaysia.
In the past, religious protests have led to a few artists cancelling their concerts in Malaysia, namely Kesha, Beyonce and Erykah Badu, amongst others.
Selena Gomez is scheduled to perform at Stadium Malawati, Shah Alam on July 25.
