You know how you’re stuck in a jam but it’s okay because you got your phone with you–and you can reply messages and check Facebook notifications while waiting? Hate to break it to you, but you can’t do that anymore.
Authorities have announced that they will start cracking down on motorists who are seen to be on their phones while driving, and not driving. This includes holding your phone while in traffic, or even while waiting for the traffic lights to turn green.
“A split-second distraction is all it takes to result in a crash,” Federal traffic investigation and enforcement department director SAC Datuk Mahamad Akhir Darus said.
Transport Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai revealed last week that the main cause of road accidents in Malaysia was due to the usage of mobile phones while driving.
