How much do you typically spend for Raya, and what tops your list?

Over 2000 Malaysians participated in the recent online survey conducted by 11street and Cilisos which revealed many fascinating insights on the expenditure for Raya 2016.

In summary, the survey showed that Malaysians are much more prudent in their spending; they are transitioning into smart spenders, adopting a more cautious way of spending during festive seasons.

The survey showed that baju Raya is still the most necessary and popular item during the Raya celebration. This is because of its significant ties to the traditions of Hari Raya.

78% of the respondents stated that they will purchase new Hari Raya clothing before purchasing any other items which include accessories, shoes, and luxury branded goods.

– Malaysians are very prudent in their financial welfare, spending only within their means.

– Malaysians are still very adherent to traditions, and tradition has proven to be a main factor of their decision making process.

– Online shopping is widely accepted in Malaysia, and is gaining more and more popularity.
