Four years after the launch of Snapchat, a.k.a the app we’re all addicted to (no shade!), the company is now beginning to monetise its Stories by inserting ads in between your friends’ stories.
The ads are skippable, but they’d sometimes appear full screen with the sound on when you transition from one Story to the next.
The ads, which will be designed by third-party agencies, will be more fully featured. This means that advertisers will be able to select additional actions when users tap on their content, including being directed to a longer video, a website, an article, or prompting them to install an app.
Although Snapchat promises to review every single ad to maintain the essence of its platform, we can’t help but to think that this app that’s got us all hooked will somehow never be the same again. What do you think?
