Okay, first of all, a podiatrist is a foot doctor. And they are saying that although it’s real easy to slip into a pair of Crocs and walk for miles, they are actually not good for your feet.

Although Crocs are very popular and they are often praised for their comfort, they are not suitable for everyday use, according to Megan Leahy, a podiatrist with the Illinois Bone and Joint Institute

“These shoes do not adequately secure the heel,” Leahy explained. “When the heel is unstable, toes tend to grip which can lead to tendinitis, worsening of toe deformities, nail problems, corns and calluses. The same thing can happen with flip flops or any backless shoes as the heel is not secured.”

Leahy added that the shoes are fine for like trips to the beach, but should not be worn for long walks or extended periods of time.
