If you discredit or ridicule the Malaysian government, your passport may be barred from exiting the country for up to three years. The same applies for when you are abroad; upon your return, you may be barred from travelling again for three years.
Apparently, the Immigration Department had enforced this ruling months ago to safeguard the country’s image, and only the Immigration Department director-general is authorised to look into appeals. Once they receive a request from the enforcement agencies, they would take action.
The director-general mentioned that possessing a Malaysian international passport is a privilege and not a right. For that reason, the government holds the discretion to issue, defer or revoke the travel document.
As of now, Malaysians may be barred from travelling from ridiculing the government, being bankrupt, having legal cases against them, or having yet to pay government loans. On top of that, you may be barred if you are convicted for any crime at home or abroad, damaging passports, or visiting Israel without approval. You can be barred from travelling abroad for between two and 10 years.
Please remember.. If you lose your passport three times in five years, you will also NOT be issued another one for a minimum of two years.
