More than 30 people, including passengers and crew, were evacuated from a commercial aircraft at the Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport in Subang at about 8.20pm yesterday night following a bomb threat. It turned out to be a hoax, causing a four hour delay.
The flight took off around 7.40pm to Singapore when the airport’s reception received two anonymous phone calls at 8pm, claiming that there was a bomb on the plane.
The aircraft was ordered to turn back and it made an emergency landing at 8.20pm. Thankfully, no explosives were found after an inspection by the bomb squad.
A Fire and Rescue Department spokesman confirmed that there was a bomb threat, “The plane has been isolated on the tarmac and our team at the airport is monitoring the situation.” Police and firemen then inspected the aircraft.
The passengers and crew then boarded a second plane and resumed their flight around 11.40pm. Any criminal intimidation can be charged under Section 507 of the Penal Code.
