Ain’t nobody likes having bad breath and let’s be honest, it really does destroy a person’s self-confidence. Although some may suffer from a severe case that requires proper medical attention, the bad breath experienced by most is attributed to poor dental hygiene. Thankfully, there are ways to curb that and prevent bad odour from haunting your dental health!
Stay hydrated – This goes without saying. Drinking a sufficient amount of water daily prevents you from getting a dry mouth. The water will also help to keep odour under control as it washes away food particles and bacteria, which is the main cause of bad breath.
Scrub that tongue – We suggest that you invest in an inexpensive tongue scraper and scrape your tongue at least once a week. You’ll be surprised over the difference it makes! The food debris and bacteria that build up on the surface of the tongue over time contributes to your horrible breath.
Brush, floss and use mouthwash – If you ever skip brushing your teeth at least twice a day, you’re gross FYI. Not only should you brush those pearly whites, we reckon that you make it a habit to floss your teeth to remove food scraps and gargle with mouthwash to eliminate every sign of icky germs lurking in your mouth. Brushing alone just doesn’t cut it!
Always carry mints or gum – Just in case you’re set up for an impromptu date and you’ve got no access to dental hygiene thingamajigs, some mints or refreshing gum will temporarily do the trick. We’ve made it a point to always have gum on hand. Alternatively, buy some breath spray.
Be aware – A quick and simple way to test if you’ve got bad breath is to lick the back of your hand, give it a few seconds to dry, then take a whiff. You can also use some floss or a tongue scraper, then smell the floss or the scraper. It’s important to always keep your breath in check as you want to leave a lasting impression, no matter who it is.
Good luck! 😉
