Facebook has officially opened an office in Malaysia! The social media site’s Asia Pacific vice president, Dan Neary, announced the launch via a Facebook post.
Neary wrote that 18 million Malaysians, consisting of 81% of people on the internet in the country, use Facebook monthly. He also said that Facebook has helped connect people globally, allowing them to be in touch with family, friends and customers.
The Facebook office in Kuala Lumpur is aimed at assisting business owners stay connected with their consumers. This comes two weeks after Facebook unveiled an office in the Philippines. As to why Malaysia was chosen, Neary explains:
“Malaysia is one of the leaders in digital adoption and innovation across Southeast Asia. Be it mobile penetration or time spent on smartphones. Malaysians are leading the charge in the region and its digital transformation has positively impacted both people and businesses.”
Malaysians are also, surprisingly, ranked 10th in the world for having the most friends.. What do you think of our social networking habits?
