What You Can Do For Your Girl When She’s On Her Period

Contrary to popular belief, it is not that difficult to deal with a woman on her period. Yes, she is more sensitive at this point of time and can turn into a fire-breathing monster within a matter of seconds, but if you know your way around, you can reduce the chances of that happening. It also works differently for everyone, there are some women on their period who just want to kill themselves, while others are completely indifferent to it and don’t even experience any cramps (which is so not fair but that’s okay).

Either way, here is a cheat-sheet on what you can do for her when she’s brooding in bed:

Make her something warm to drink

The moment you hear the word “cramps” or “pain”, rush to the kitchen and make her a warm cup of tea. Cramps usually happen when the uterus is contracting, so consuming warm drinks (or even hot soup) can help to soothe the cramps. While you’re at it, make sure she stays away from any fizzy or iced drinks, it will worsen the pain. It’s also handy to have a hot water bag on stand-by!

Don’t let her move or carry anything

When your girl is on her period, she is very likely to feel light-headed and weak because of the blood outflow; especially on the first two days. It will also feel very uncomfortable to keep moving, so if she needs anything, be a dear and go get it for her, even if it’s just the TV remote that is 3 feet away. Trust me, it’s best for her to not move at all.

Buy a ton of chocolates

Do I even have to mention this? Chocolates win all the time, especially during that time of the month. Bonus points if you make some hot chocolate for her!

Give her a back rub

Back rub is a popular method to help soothe the cramps, although there are some girls who prefer to be just left alone. Some girls also like foot rubs, so it really depends on what she’s comfortable with. Just remember to be tender and gentle, she’s already in a lot of pain.

Send her a sweet text message

If you’re not around her, you can send her a text message to let her know you’re thinking of her. A simple, “Hope you’re okay, princess” will do the trick. Tell her you miss her and that you’ll be home soon so you guys can….

Cuddle!

Ask any girl, nothing beats cuddling up to a warm body, surrounded with strong arms, brushing her hair and showering her with kisses when they’re in so much pain. This is the time she really needs you (actually it’s your body heat), so be there for her. Some girls might just start crying for no reason, don’t think much of it. Others might want to just cuddle and watch reruns of One Tree Hill. You know what to do.

The next time she’s having a girl’s night out, trust me, she’s gonna start with, “Oh you guys, do you know what he did for me last week when I was on my period??”

You’re welcome. 🙂
