Every year, the Met Gala (Metropolitan Museum of Art’s annual Costume Institute Gala) hosts a different exhibit, of which this year is Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology. Chaired by none other than Anna Wintour, the gala saw countless artists, actors and other luminaries show up in sensational ensembles that we simply cannot disregard.
Without further ado, here are the must-see red carpet arrival photos of the year:
Beyoncé – Becky who?! Lemonade singer Queen Bey looked fierce in this nude, embellished latex Givenchy number.
Blake Lively – Lively, who is expecting her second child with Ryan Reynolds, concealed her pregnancy in this blush pink silk organza and chiffon gown, sewn with laser-cut acrylic flowers.
Claire Danes – This delicate yet voluminous Zac Posen Cinderella-esque gown definitely stole the show come nighttime as it freaking lighted up. ‘Nuff said.
Bella Hadid – If there’s one person who can look this good in an all-black ensemble, it’s got to be this Hadid sister. The gorgeous Givenchy gown had a fluffy train that swept the floor gracefully with every step.
Emma Watson – The 26-year-old actress oozed class like none other in a Calvin Klein Bardot neckline corset and wide leg trousers with a lavish cascading black train.
Katy Perry – While this look isn’t for everyone, Katy Perry brought back the ’90s with a custom Prada gown featuring numerous charms and gadgets, including Tamagotchis. Peculiar, but definitely iconic.
Zoe Saldana – Oh, my! The intricate feathery details of this stunning Dolce & Gabbana gown were simply outstanding.
Kate Hudson – We’d totes want to get hitched in this bridal-inspired Atelier Versace gown that featured a brilliant play of textures and cuts with a little skin peeking through.
Jourdan Dunn – This figure-hugging, futuristic Balmain gown looked glamorously opulent, albeit the dose of sex appeal.
Karlie Kloss – Kloss initially stepped onto the red carpet in a conservative Brandon Maxwell cape dress before shedding the cape to reveal a plunging neckline and flattering cut-outs that accentuated her slim waist.
Rita Ora – All eyes turned to this pop star as she stole the spotlight in a feathered, silver Vera Wang gown which had cut-outs that highlighted her tummy and thighs.
Poppy Delevingne – This Delevingne sister put on a busty display with a semi-sheer, plunging tiered silver gown that flaunted her smouldering makeup look.
Zendaya – Talk about being a red carpet chameleon! Zendaya donned a slinky gold Michael Kors Collection gown and to amp up the drama, she had a show-stopping bowl cut hairstyle.
Rachel McAdams – The more we look at this shimmering Valentino gown, the more we’re in love with it! Paired with her skin tone and vampy makeup, the gold sequins and writing on the sheer skirt makes for a totally coherent (and dazzling) ensemble.
