Urbanscapes 2016 kicked-off in psychedelic style as Australian rock band Tame Impala rocked out to a jam-packed KL Live with 2,500 screaming fans — some of whom started queuing since noon!
While waiting for the main event, Tiger Beer treated ticket holders to a series of games and fun activities at the Tiger Den. There was also a live performance to pump up the crowd just before they headed in for the main event. Tiger Beer is Urbanscapes’ official beer partner for the 13th year.
Local experimental band Pastel Lite opened for the band and successfully roused the crowd into euphoria, preparing them for the highlight of the night. Shortly after that, Tame Impala took over the stage and opened with ‘Walk On’, sending the crowd into a frenzy. The band went on to belt out other hits like ‘Let It Happen’, ‘Elephant’, and the crowd-favourite, ‘Feels Like We Only Go Backwards’.
The crowd relentlessly roared for an encore when Tame Impala left the stage at the end of their set. Upon returning to fulfil the crowd’s request with two more songs, vocalist Kevin Parker told the crowd that they were so moved by the overwhelming response form the Malaysian fans that they can’t wait to be back.
