So, lately all the craze has been about cushion compacts and for the last few months, I have been receiving news of various beauty brands coming up with their own version of it. I’ve always been a little old-school in the sense that I like my foundation to be a little thicker than what the cushion compact has to offer – or so I thought. The liquid foundation that I’ve used in the past has given me total coverage. We are talking about the kind that covers up any freckles I may have and at the same time evens out my blotchy skin tone.
One of the many perks of working closely with beauty brands is that I’m able to try out a product before it hits the market. The Wonderful Cushion was passed to me not too long ago but only recently have I been able to test this baby out. See, I’m all new to this cushion compact craze and have to admit that I was a little hesitant at first but I’m really glad I took the plunge. While the Wonderful Cushion may not be everyone’s cup of tea, it certainly has become mine and I think it’s a great introduction for those who are a little hesitant to try this beauty product out.
Brief introduction to cushion compact: This trend began in Korea and as you all know, the ladies in Korea (South, not North but we can never be too sure) takes their beauty regime and products seriously. Since then we have seen the growth of the cushion compact trend.
What it is: It’s basically a cushion-like sponge that’s drenched in liquid foundation. It also comes with a separate powder puff that you can dab onto the sponge with. But if you’re a real control freak, you can also opt for using a brush or even your fingers. I personally love using the sponge because I am lazy and I’m a mother that hardly has time to shower, so whatever’s fastest, I’m going to choose.
What I think about the Wonderful Cushion: I have a lot of freckles and uneven skin tone, so you can understand why I have always loved liquid foundation because it hides the imperfections, which I hate. While the Wonderful Cushion by Sephora is extremely light, it does give me sufficient coverage and what I love most about this product is how natural it feels on my skin. It almost feels as though I haven’t got any makeup on and I love that subtle dewy finish it gives my skin. Because I have slightly oily skin, I need the dewy-ness to be not too over the top in order to avoid looking like a greasy frying pan.
Another thing I have noticed about cushion compact packaging is that they’re all a little bulky, which can be a problem if you’re the kind of girl that carries a small bag but I’m not one of those. But I don’t even think I need to have dual lid compact in my handbag because one application in the morning before heading out is enough to last me a full day. Either way, it’s still travel-friendly!
With a lot of the foundation I’ve used in the past, they tend to get greasy later on in the day but not the Wonderful Cushion, which comes in six different shades. That may come off as limited but I’m confident that within these six tones, you can definitely find one that suits your skin colour. This cushion compact may not give insanely flawless coverage but the sheer finish of this product will give your skin the opportunity to look like the best version of itself.
With so many products under Sephora’s roof, it’s often to easy to forget that Sephora themselves have a pretty impressive line of their own beauty products, just like this Wonderful Cushion. It’s perfect for every day use, especially if you’re not into heavy makeup. In conclusion, the Wonderful Cushion by Sephora is exactly that – wonderful
