The AirAsia Runway Ready Designer Search 2016 is expanding to four other countries besides Malaysia this year. The search will reach out to Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore and the Philippines to provide a platform for young aspiring designers from the region to showcase their talents.
The search was officially launched last Tuesday by Aireen Omar, Chief Executive Officer of AirAsia Berhad, together with Andrew Tan, Founder of Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week Ready to Wear (KLFW RTW). This is the second time that the designer search is taking place, in collaboration with the KLFW RTW team.
Judges for the search include both Aireen Omar and Andrew Tan, with Vivy Yusof, owner of renowned fashion e-commerce site FashionValet.com, Alia Bastamam, fashion designer and Suzie Adnan, Editor-in-Chief of GLAM.
Auditions will be held in Jakarta (16 April), Manila (23 April), Kuala Lumpur (30 April), Singapore (7 May), and Bangkok (7 May). Participants will be narrowed down to the top three from each city, and they will represent their respective countries at the Grand Finale in August, on the KLFW RTW 2016 runway.
The grand winner will walk away with prizes worth RM 350,000, including a showcase at the KLFW RTW 2017, a mentorship from the KLFW RTW team, a start-up capital of RM 25,000 from FashionValet to produce a collection, and 150,000 AirAsia Big Points.
