[REVIEW] Quirky & Comfy: SMIRK Is Your New Go-To Cafe In Bangsar

SMIRK Cafe in Bangsar is the new kid on the block, but they are ready to give all other cafes a run for their money. The place is chic, fun and laid-back, with pictures of Marilyn Monroe gracing the walls for a nostalgic touch. The interior decor and furniture are all carefully hand-picked for your utmost comfort.

If you’re in the vicinity, this place can be the perfect stop for a sumptuous lunch, a refreshing cocktail, a cup of coffee or an amazingly delicious dessert that your sweet tooth is coveting.

We managed sample some of SMIRK’s best-selling items from the menu that is crafted and perfected by their manager, Vishnu. Here’s how it went down:

Mains

Coloured Pasta with Duck Confit – RM 13

A combination of three colours, this plate of spaghetti is coloured in steel blue, dark cyan and sunrise orange, topped with sundried tomatoes and served with crisp duck confit. The crunchy dark confit complements the chewy pasta, and the sun dried tomatoes packs a punch to the whole ensemble. Some might find it a tad salty, but we think the flavour is fulfilling and balanced out well.

Grilled Salmon Fusion – RM 32

Salmon grilled to perfection, served with a special cocktail of white rendang ratatouille, topped with creamy radish sauce. The salmon is tender and befittingly blends with the creamy radish and ratatouille. Although it is an unusual combination, we could find no fault in this.

Dessert

Crepe Suzette – RM 14

A layer of crepe carefully folded over a string of fresh banana, deluged in butterscotch sauce and served with fresh berries. This can be shared among two people, which makes it perfect for a date, and fills up the tummy pretty well too. The only downside to this is you may not be able to stop taking photos and actually get to eating it.

Cocktails

Virgin Frozen Lychee Mojito – RM 15

You can feel your body temperature drop almost instantly as you take a sip of this cocktail of lychee, fresh lemon juice, mint leaves, wild mint syrup, and soda. Blended with ice and served in a martini glass, this is your absolute solution for the heat wave!

Electric Blue Lemonade – 10

The Electric Blue Lemonade is a sweet and refreshing summertime cocktail. It is a tangy blend of fresh lemon juice, sugar syrup and Blue Lagoon syrup, served in a highball glass; and utterly invigorating.

Apart from being a great hang out spot, the price is also easy on your pockets, all the items on the menu costs between RM 10 to RM 40. SMIRK also has a petite private room available for parties, whether it’s a birthday, bachelorette night or a baby shower.
