The prestigious World Whiskies Awards took place just a few days ago, celebrating the finest products and individuals. The managing editor of Whisky Magazine, Rupert Wheeler, co-hosted the event at the Grand Connaught Rooms in London. Guests made the journey from as far as Japan, Taiwan, Australia and America to join the celebrations.
Glenmorangie Company’s pioneering Director of Distilling, Dr. Bill Lumsden, picked up the award for Master Distiller/Master Blender of the Year, which makes him the best in the world. A prominent figure in the scene, Dr Bill Lumsden received a Special Recognition Award for a Master Distiller/Blender from the International Spirits Challenge last year.
Upon receiving the accolade of Master Distiller/Master Blender of the year at Whisky Magazine’s Icons of Whisky 2016 awards he said: “I’m truly honoured to receive this global award. It is a tribute to the unseen lengths to which we at Glenmorangie go in creating our exceptional single malt – and it recognises the unique qualities of Ardbeg’s untamed spirit.”
Dr Bill Lumsden has also been named Industry Leader of the Year a record three times by The Malt Advocate.
