The Bernard Chandran womenswear collection for Autumn/ Winter 2016 gives a deeper insight of oriental values and culture with ‘Give Face’ rather than the regular usual oriental and mythical designs of the dragon, phoenix and gold. ‘Give Face’ is an expression of the Chinese culture, where it teaches us the importance of respect.
Drawing on a mixed oriental cultural heritage, perhaps no other designer can vividly interpret culture elements of the Far East unless he/ she is born and has been practicing it. As Chandran is well-known for his skill and craftsmanships in traditional designs, he wisely mixed oriental aesthetics with a lil pinch of a modern touch to it.
A modern sequence of oriental colours – emerald green, gold purple, maroon, black, blue and red applied on luxurious textures like silk, organza and even fur! Giving you a splash of luxury and richness that accompanies the wintery moods. Some of the outlines of these designs are extra wing-cuffs, boxed pleats bottom, Chinese bustier corset Oriental opera sleeve, batwing sleeves and boot cut overlap trousers are groomed into a luxury version of modern elegance.
