It’s always a surprise when unexpected collaborations take place, they either wow you or make you go, “Err, okay…” but when we heard that our favourite nail polish OPI and the good ol’ Muppets from Sesame Street would be teaming up, the first thing that came to mind when we thought of the Muppets were quite frankly, fuzzy. But really, wow, wow, and wow, and we wondered how the whole collection would come about and true enough, we were amazed.
We’ve all grown up with them: Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, Rizzo the Rat and Gonzo the Great. The Muppets have been featured in programmes such as Sesame Street, The Muppet Show, Fraggle Rock and Bear in the Big Blue House.
The collaboration, however, is in conjunction with the new Muppets movie premiering in the US on the 23rd of November 2011 and tells the story of how the muppets reunite to save the old Muppet theatre when it faces demolishment by the greedy Tex Richman who wants to drill under the muppet theatre for oil. The film also features real-life stars Amy Adams and Jason Segel of “How I Met Your Mother” fame.
OPI has rolled out 12 limited edition marvellous colors, all in sparkly and metallic hues with plenty of glitter and shimmer as part of their annual OPI Holiday collection all inspired by the wonderful world of the Muppets.
Just like the Shrek and Alice In Wonderland collection, the Muppets collection comes with cutesy names such as Wocka Wocka, Designer…de Better (metallic bronze), Excuse Moi (pink glitter), Warm & Fozzie (metallic copper), Rainbow Connection, Fresh Frog Prince of Bel Air and Gettin’ Miss Piggy With It.
Even if you’re not a fan of the Muppets, this collection is one not to be missed. We’ve seen the swatches all over the internet and they look absolutely gorgeous for the festive seasons this year end! Be sure to pick yourself up some of these glittery goodies and turn up the glam.
As for us, we’ll be wearing them to the movie!
