We often use snapchat to share pictures and videos with friends–but a group Indian citizens are using it to reach out to teens who are trapped in abusive relationships.
Snap Counsellors account, launched on the 8th of March, hopes to tackle this widespread but unreported problem. “We already have an average of eight people reaching out to us everyday. There are almost 200 people watching the stories we are broadcasting on Snapchat,” says Rajshekar Patil, the ad guy whose brainchild it is.
According to Rajshekar, relationship abuse is common among Indian teens, but most of them are scared to talk about it. This is why Snapchat’s self-destruct feature is ideal, all messages posted will be gone in 20 seconds, leaving no trace.
