Trance DJ duo Aly & Fila who hail from Egypt have been in the EDM scene since 1999 and the two talented lads, Aly Amr Fathalah (Aly) and Fadi Wassef Naguib (Fila), have been a huge success, bringing their hot trance bangers across the world. While they make music together, only Fila goes on tour as Aly had suffered an ear injury.
Just on Saturday, Fila was in Singapore to perform for excited party goers at Zouk Singapore as the first stop for his 2016 tour and he definitely had a very bad start. Many sources claimed that the son of our PM Najib Razak – Norashman – allegedly used his status and power to cut short Fila’s set so he could play his own DJ set.
Norashman apparently met the owner of Zouk and raised this request. Fila declared: “…it seems that Zouk here wants someone else to play. Not only because of that! Because apparently he’s the son of a prime minister,” Fadi says to his dismayed audience through the mic.
“Thank you so much, enjoy my last track. I’ll see you somewhere in the future. Not in Zouk anymore! Because I won’t play in Zouk any-fucking-more. They’ve insulted me, but I love you guys.” This can be heard in a footage captured by a Facebook user named Derrick Low.
This caused more uproar, and Aly & Fila have also taken to Facebook to clarify on the incident, detailing exactly what had happened that night:
Clearly, Zouk Singapore should have thought this through deliberately before kicking out a guest performer, who is one of the best DJs in the world, to allow a random VIP to take over the stage. Yes, he is the Malaysian PM’s son, but party goers essentially paid money to watch the DJ’s set.
Oh well, looks like Zouk Singapore will never hear of Aly & Fila any time soon. What are your thoughts on this? :/
