Although, one beauty blogger captured many hearts through her inspiring story on why she decided to start her journey in the beauty industry.
Shalom Nchom (Shalom Blac on YouTube) is a 20-year-old beauty blogger from Nigeria. Shalom was involved in an accident involving frying oil at her family’s store and suffered severe burns to her head, face, and neck when she was as young as 9 years-old.
Because of her major physical burns, Shalom was constantly bullied in middle school that it sometimes lead her towards suicidal thoughts.
“Life after the accident wasn’t what I thought it would be. I was stared at by kids and older people whenever I stepped out,” she recently told BuzzFeed. “I felt like a living statue that people came to see. It pushed me to be rude towards anyone who stared at me. I cursed people out and cried on many occasions.”
After meeting other victims who had more severe burns than hers, Shalom changed her entire outlook on life and soon when she was 13, she started watching makeup tutorials on YouTube which inspired her to feel more confident about her looks.
Just a few years ago, she started uploading her own original makeup looks on her YouTube channel that she uses as a platform to share her makeup transformations and also to create awareness on self-love.
Well… haters can say whatever they want but the girl is be-yoooo-tiful!
