For a long time now, I’ve heard amazing things about Becca via beauty vloggers on YouTube. Evidently, we Malaysians couldn’t get hold of products by Becca… until recently. When Sephora Malaysia hosted its Spring 2016 press preview and went online, Becca was FINALLY added to its array of brands available to Malaysians. I squealed in excitement and shed tears of joy as I first landed my eyes on the Becca booth display thingamajig.
If you’re obsessed with all things beauty, you’d know that Becca is one of the most talked about beauty brands as of late. In almost every makeup tutorial on YouTube, at least one Becca product is mentioned. Although Becca is most known for its highlighters whether in liquid or powder form, the brand’s foundations have also recently been gaining buzz online.
Highlighter is easily my favourite makeup product of all time, aside from lipsticks. I’ve stuck with my Mary-Lou Manizer by The Balm for years now, and I’m so happy to add these products to my collection! Needless to say, I had to have the Shimmering Skin Perfectors that everyone talks about, and the Backlight Priming Filter which KathleenLights – one of my favourite beauty vloggers – loves.
Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Opal (RM195) – This buttery smooth highlighter is formulated with ultra-fine, luminescent pearls that reflect and refract light beautifully on the skin. Instead of just sitting on the skin, the ultra-fine pigments really blend seamlessly into the skin and the glow it gives lasts for hours.
The best way I would describe Opal is a peachy champagne sheen that gives just the most gorgeous soft, radiant glow to the skin. You can be completely subtle with this highlighter, or go ham with it. You do you, girl, you do you. I’m extremely pale and I think this highlighter looks wonderful with my skin tone. It is exquisite and looks totally appropriate for day time.
Becca x Jaclyn Hill Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Champagne Pop (RM195) – Anything beauty goddess Jaclyn Hill creates, I’d die to have and Champagne Pop is no exception. Unlike Becca’s other Shimmering Skin Perfectors that offer a softer, radiant finish, this highlighter is extremely intense and in your face. Not that I’m complaining though!
I’d describe Champagne Pop as a golden, peach tone that looks amazing on sun-kissed skin. A little goes a long way, and the slightest touch gives the most intense colour payoff. I love wearing this highlighter when I’ve got a more dramatic makeup look, with full-on contour, liquid lipstick and what have you. Let’s just put it this way; it’s my go-to highlighter when my makeup is fiercely on fleek.
Becca Backlight Priming Filter (RM179) – This primer creates a smooth, even canvas for your makeup and makes your makeup lasts twice as long. Infused with three unique Filtering Luminescent Pearls, this primer acts as an instant filter while the vitamin E-enriched formula minimises the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. If your skin often looks dull, this primer will change your life.
When I put this on, it leaves a diffused, soft-focused radiance on my skin that catches the light as I turn my head. It gives me a lit-from-within look which brightens my overall complexion, making me look more wide awake. The primer looks thick when it’s pumped out, but it blends smoothly into the skin. You could wear this primer only on the areas you’d normally highlight or on the entire face, which I like to do.
Overall, I’m very impressed and these products by Becca are for sure worth the hype. For a more soft, highlighted look, I’d go for the Shimmering Skin Perfector in Opal. On the other hand, the Backlight Priming Filter and Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Champagne Pop would be the perfect combo if you’re into strobing or extreme highlighting. Yes, these products are on the pricier side, but they’re completely worth the investment.
You can get your hands on Becca’s Shimmering Skin Perfectors and Backlight Priming Filter via Sephora Malaysia’s new e-store or at any Sephora retail stores near you.
