One of the lines that graced the runway at the New York Fashion Week last Tuesday was the Tory Burch Fall/Winter Collection 2016. Combining the nonchalance of street style with Burch’s childhood love for horseback riding, this line was also inspired by the cafe scene in Eric Rohmer’s 1972 film, L’amour l’après-midi.
Burch featured a refined take on sportswear classics paired with equestrian details. You will find coats in bold jockey-silk patterns skinny jodhpurs and trapunto-stitch bombers. The sporty elements are key, and thus including pieces from Tory Sport.
Bold colours like red, blue and green prevail on the runway, exquisitely mixed with earthly shades like rust, brown and plum – balanced out with morning fog and ivory.
Accessories from the collection reflect the wearer’s mood, from boots, to unstructured and versatile bags with harness belts and hooded buckles, pendant necklaces and shoulder-fondling earrings; the entire collection is carefully woven to reflect its effortless spirit.
