We’re almost into the third year of 2016 and if you have not started making changes, it’s about time that you do. We’re not saying that you should only make changes when it’s a brand new year because changes can be made at any time, but the new year always serves as a good motivation for personal development.

If you have no idea where to start, here are some things you might want to start doing this year:

Do some cleansing – We don’t just mean your face but your life. Cleanse your life of negative people, fake friends and anything that will stop you from growing as a person. If something or someone makes you unhappy, don’t apologize for wanting to get rid of them because freeing yourself from toxic characters and energy will only benefit your soul.

Save money – This particular thing is something you should really start doing because the older you will be so thankful for this. Plus, you never know what challenge could come in the future where you’ll need a backup plan with some extra money, so have some saved. Make it it a point to put aside a little bit of money from each month’s salary. Even a small amount counts.

De-clutter – Form a spring cleaning ritual at the beginning of every year and throw out all the things that you don’t need. Don’t be a hoarder. Also, if you have more than enough clothes and plenty of which you don’t wear, why not fold them into a bag and donate to charity. Your unused clothes will be better off being used by someone who needs instead of collecting dust in your closet.

Travel more – If you’re going to work real hard and save money, make sure you at least travel once a year. Otherwise, what’s the point of working hard if you don’t get to experience some of what the world has to offer.

Eat healthy – No, we are not talking about following some fad diet. Just start eating healthy by cutting out complex carbs and processed meats. Making a habit of eating healthy can only benefit you in the future and it’s just better for your health in general. Whatever it is, your healthy eating habits need to be sustainable. Make it easy for yourself and don’t go crazy for ingredients that are hard to find. The greener, the better!

Exercise – We have all got busy schedules and sometimes it’s really easy to neglect our body but truth be told, even on the busiest day, you can spare 15 minutes of your time for a walk around the block. That’s if you have absolutely no time to go to the gym. Make it a habit to look after yourself and your body.

Pick up a hobby – Life shouldn’t be all about responsibilities, so why not pick up a hobby that you really enjoy? Maybe you used to paint before work got in the way. Spend your weekend doing something enjoyable so you’re not overwhelmed with the hustle and bustle of life.
