If you’re passionate about K-pop, you’ve probably heard about Moonshot – the first beauty brand by YG Entertainment, the household name behind global sensations like 2NE1 and Big Bang. Much to the delight of fans, Moonshot products were made available at all Sephora outlets in Malaysia sometime last year. We’ve played around with some of the brand’s most coveted products, and are finally giving you an honest review!
Here are five different Moonshot products we’ve tried:
1. Multi Protection UV Bouncer SPF50+ PA+++ – Before putting on makeup, I love applying this product as a sunscreen and primer. There’s really no flaw I can point out; it’s comfortably lightweight, its aqua gel formula is hydrating, it feels cooling when applied, it absorbs quickly, doesn’t leave a sticky finish, and helps my makeup last longer. The pump bottle is also hassle free, and I’m glad I’ve found a face sunscreen that I actually enjoy using.
2. Powder Fixer in 202 – After putting on foundation and concealer, it’s advisable to set and seal your hard work with a face powder. Moonshot’s Powder Fixer is very finely milled and it leaves a nice satin finish on the skin that isn’t cakey or straight up matte. Most importantly, the powder doesn’t highlight dry areas on the skin and doesn’t easily crease. The powder comes with a dual side puff, so you can touch up conveniently while on the go.
3. Jelly Pot in P06 Hawaiian Sand – This is one of Moonshot’s best-selling products that is very versatile. With a bizarre jelly-like texture, this highly pigmented product comes in a variety of colours and two finishes for you to create endless looks. Besides using the Jelly Pot as eyeshadow, you can also apply it on the cheeks as blush or on the lips for a vivid tint. This particular shade – P06 Hawaiian Sand – looks beautiful on the eyelids!
4. Line Performer Liquid in 01 Deep Black – Have you tried eyeliners that turned out to be less opaque than you’d like? You won’t face the same issue with Moonshot’s Line Performer Liquid. It has a vivid and rich black pigment that shows up true to colour with one smooth glide, and with its firm elastic tip, creating precise lines is an absolute breeze. Once this eyeliner sets, it will not budge or move, and it lasts for hours on end without fading off.
5. Cream Paint in 104 Pink Punch – Similar to the Jelly Pot, this Cream Paint product can be used many ways, whether on the lips, cheeks or eyes. It’s available in a bunch of colours and two different textures – glossy and silky. A little goes a long way with this product as it is extremely pigmented, and it comes with a unique finger-shaped doe foot applicator that’s easy to use. You can wear a very light coat, or build up the colour to its maximum intensity.
Most of the Moonshot products mentioned above have already been integrated into my everyday makeup routine and it just goes to show how much I adore them. No one does beauty like the Koreans, and if anything, the YG Entertainment K-pop stars look perpetually flawless. I’m getting my hands on more Moonshot products to try out, for sure.
