Going for RM5 a pop, we’re pretty sure you’ve seen or heard of phallic-looking waffle sausages being sold at Jonker Street, Malacca on your social media feeds. Thanks to its unusual shape and bountiful photos from people who’ve tried it, the waffles evidently became a huge hit and had gone viral.
Even though bizarre news like this excites Malaysians and gets netizens talking, some people aren’t too happy about it. Committee member of Jonker Walk, Datuk Gan Tian Loo has prohibited the sale of the waffle sausages, citing that the phallic waffle sausages may tarnish Jonker Walk’s renown reputation as a wholesome night market and gourmet destination.
Even so, the operator, who is in his early 20s, was ballsy enough to carry on with his business up until Chinese New Year. He was then served a notice saying that his business licence would be revoked.
We understand where they’re coming from, but we’re also feeling disappointed that it’s now no longer being sold.
