Bad news for all you Star Wars worshippers, Disney Studios have just announced that the release of Star Wars Episode VIII will be delayed until December 15, 2017. Episode VIII was initially set to release on May 26, 2017, at least seven months earlier.
Written and directed by Rian Johnson, Episode VIII is a sequel to The Force Awakens, which hit cinemas worldwide last month. It immediately became the highest grossing film in North America, and the third biggest global release in history. The Force Awakens also took a whopping $861 million from the box office.
Star Wars Episode VIII will resume with the story of Rey (Daisy Ridley), Finn (John Boyega), Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac) and the villainous Kylo Ren (Adam Driver), and we are also hoping to see more of Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill), since we only saw him for a total of 4 – 5 seconds the last time and he didn’t say a word!
But hey, Rogue One will still hit theatres this Christmas, so cheer up 🙂
